Exciting Things.

My husband and I have both been feeling under the weather for the past few days. I braved the world on Friday and found this awesome Adoption Center at Lakewood Mall (www.foundanimals.org). We have been thinking about adopting another cat for a while so our 2 year old cat wouldn’t be so lonely while we are away. I fell in love with the sweetest little guy.

Shepard

He’s a little bit sick so the two kitties will be separate for 2 weeks. I’ve been playing nurse (husband + kitten). Apologies for my mug getting in the way, but the little guy just won’t sit still without someone to sit on!

The next three things are all related to food. My mother-in-law bought me a huge (25lb) bag of flour the other day because she heard I’ve been having trouble finding big bags of flour. I must not be looking in the right places! I think she just wants me to bake her more bread. Tip from my mom: store big bags of flour in the freezer so bugs don’t get in. (Clearly, she has 3 freezers!)

I also ordered a 2 lb bag of Yeast on Amazon.com. I’ve been paying close to $2 for 3 packets of the Fleischman’s Yeast. I paid about $15 on amazon.com ($6 was a shipping charge). I am going to bake all day.

Finally, I bought a Basil plant. Sweet, glorious Basil.

I apologize for the extended absence from my blog. I have gone through some massive changes in the last few months. I quit a job I worked at for 4 years, moved to the US from Canada, moved in with (future) in-laws, got married, and finally moved into our first home together. Needless to say I have been a busy gal! I’ve been cooking a lot but have been rather lazy about blogging about it.

I’m going to be writing a bunch of recipes today and tomorrow. One of them is a recipe for bread. Ah glorious bread. It just takes a while to make with all the rising… and deliciousness.

Coming soon:

Bread. Granola Bars. Enchiladas(!!). Chipotle Mayo. Whipped Cream…

So stay tuned because I will make it up to you. As they say, distance makes the heart (belly?) grow fonder.
